Can I register?

Marathon / Half Marathon / 13 km of the Rhône

YES, if you were born in 2002 or earlier…but your choice of race is limited by the minimum age set for each race:

  • The 13 km of the Rhône if you are 16 or older on the day of the race
  • The Half Marathon if you are 18 or older on the day of the race
  • The Marathon if you are 20 or older on the day of the race

However, there are other conditions which MUST be met

BEFORE THE 30th of OCTOBER, you must have sent the following to the race organization:

  • If you have a licence: your Sports Licence (FFA or FFTRI) or (FFA, FFCO, FFPM or FFTRI), whose validity covers the day of the race
  • If you do not have a licence, then your current valid medical certificate which MUST specify “absence of any contraindications for participation in running (or athletics) in competition”.

The process is simple and you will receive a confirmation of your registration. The valid confirmation will be issued as soon as your registration file is complete and you secure payment has been made, or your cheque has been received.

I want to change my registration

You may make changes to your registration (add evening activities, modify your address,join a team…) until October 30th. After this date, no further changes will be possible.
To do this:

  • I go to my online registration
  • I connect with my email address and my reservation code (to be found on the automatic confirmation which I already received
  • I click on the grey box with the little pencil on the right of the screen: “Change my registration”

I am then once more in my registration file and I can change whatever is necessary. When I have finished, I must click on the button at the bottom of the page which says “Register all changes”.
If I add any new activities that require further payment, I will need to complete payment before the modifications will be validated.

Cancellation Insurance

For 2018, a cancellation insurance is available for the runners! The option is confirmed exclusively on your race bib. You must subscribe on the form available during your registration. No justification will be required before October 30th. The premium varies together with the price of the race bib (from €2.99 for a registration for the 13 km of the Rhône).

Since I am under the age of 18 do I need formal parental permission?

YES
“I will be under 18 years old on the day of the race (I was born between 17/11/2000 and 17/11/2002), I must have a formal parental permission and upload it to my online registration BEFORE OCTOBER 30th (parental permission cannot be validated during the collection of the race bibs)
After OCTOBER 30th, it will no longer be possible to complete my registration.”

When, where and how do I collect my race bib?

When: on Thursday, November 15th between 12h00 and 20h00 and on Friday, November 16th between 12h00 and 20h00 (10h00 and 20h00?)

Where: At Parc Expo (the route is indicated), rue de l’Industrie – just east of Villefranche

How: You must bring you ID Card (or Passport) and your “carte de retrait” (bib collection card). This will have been activated in your online registration file 15 days before the race – you will be informed by email when this has happened – beware SPAM

Important – it is essential that your medical certificate or your licence has been validated by the race organizers BEFORE OCTOBER 30th

If you have reserved seats for one of the other options (Pasta, Night, Sunday), you must also upload your carte d’accès (entry card) to your online registration file

What should I do if I am unable to collect my race bib on either Thursday or Friday?

You may ask a friend to collect your race bib. Important: it is essential that your provide your friend with your “carte de retrait” (bib collection card). This will have been activated in your online registration file 15 days before the race AS WELL AS a copy of your ID Card or Passport. It is equally essential that your medical certificate or your licence has been validated by the race organizers BEFORE OCTOBER 30th.
It is also possible to have your race bib sent to you by post. This option must be selected during your online registration and is available only until October 15th, 2018.

How and where should I attach my race bib?

The bib must be attached with pins to your chest throughout the race. The complete surface of the bib must be visible.
In order to be timed: your chip needs to be detected on the timing mats along the race route. Please ensure that:

  • You do not fold or crease your race bib
  • You do not detach the bands
  • You do not write anything on the race bib

If you are wearing anything on top of the bib, make sure that you open it each time you pass over one of the timing mats.

Any runner without a race bib will be disqualified. A runner who has not registered, or who is running under the identity of another person, is not covered by any insurance.

What does my registration include?

Your registration includes:
A whole load of fun!

  • Access to the marathon village (which is open to everyone) where you can taste the products of the region of Beaujolais as well as those of other regions offered by the other race organizations present
  • the locker bag
  • the tee-shirt
  • the bottle of beaujolais nouveau
  • free access to the shuttle buses between the carparks and the starting points of the 13 km of the Rhône and the Half Marathon in the town centre as well as the trip back at the end of the afternoon
  • the transport to Fleurie for the participants in the Marathon (on presentation of a race bib for the Marathon)
  • the race you have chosen with refreshment stations every 5 km, but also numerous opportunities to taste the wine of Beaujolais whilst the music is playing…
  • the medal “tastevin” for those who finish the marathon
  • both the scratch and the real time to one hundredth of a second with intermediate times for the marathon runners
  • your personal certificate of participation in the International Marathon of Beaujolais to print at home

When and where are the starts of the races?

Saturday, November 17th – subject to any changes deemed necessary by the organization

  • MARATHON: 9h00 at Fleurie (30km north of Villefranche-sur-Saône)
    Free buses are available for marathon runners from 6h30 until 7h15 at Parc Expo. A race bib for the marathon is essential. The car park of the Parc Expo is also reserved for marathon runners.
    The arrival of the Marathon is around 3km from the Parc Expo and shuttles are foreseen to go back to Parc Expo.
  • Half Marathon: 12h00 at Villefranche-sur-Saône, avenue Saint-Exupéry, site of the school of Mongré
  • 13km of the Rhône : 14h30 at Villefranche-sur-Saône, avenue Saint-Exupéry, site of the school of Mongré

Will anything to eat or drink be provided during the races?

No problem
There are refreshment points every 5km for all three races. There will be more than enough sweet and savory food, the local drink of BEAUJOLAIS…and even some water…

Are there changing rooms available?

YES – a changing room is foreseen for each of the races

Is there somewhere to store baggage?

You will be able to leave the runner’s bag supplied by the race organization in the changing room allocated to your race without charge. You will be able to recover it after the race on presentation of your race bib.
Important : only the runner’s bags supplied by the race organization when you collect your race bib will be accepted – we cannot accept suitcases or travel bags

Are there toilets available along the race routes?

YES
Mobile toilets as well as some fixed toilet facilities (e.g. in some of the castles) will be close to the route and can be used. They will all be clearly signposted.

Will there be pacemakers present to help meet my targets?

OUI ! Pour le Marathon uniquement.

YES – but only for the Marathon
Targets proposed: 3h15 / 3h30 / 3h45 / 4h00

When and where will I be able to get the details of my results?

TYour results, and those of all finishers will be available the same day
They will be pinned to boards placed at the end of the arrival area
You will also be able to upload all the results on our site marathondubeaujolais.org
Your hard-earned personal certificate can also be uploaded from this site a couple of days later
The photographs chosen by PHOTORUNNING will also be available on the site 24h00 after your arrival

Is any professional care available to help with recovering from the event?

The runners of the Marathon will have access to any care they may require from physiotherapists and osteopaths in the changing room for the Marathon in the Marché Couvert (Covered Market)

To whom should I address any questions or need for help during my race?

More than 1000 volunteers will be there for the event.They will be easily recognisable and will be distributed around all of the locations in order to ensure your security as well as the refreshments you need from start to finish. They are easy to approach and are there to inform and help you in any way they possibly can.
The Headquarters of the race organization is also available for you. It is located on the rue de la Paix at the finish line, and in the Marathon Village
